The General Assistance Program enables the Department to develop and draft codes, regulations and administrative procedures to protect the Tribal environment
and natural resources, as well as operate various outreach activities in the communities located on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation. The GAP program is
responsible for the overall supervision of the EPD's various programs. The position is charged with analyzing and developing components of the comprehensive long range
environmental goals and objectives of the Tribe and to coordinate all environmental activities that occur on the Reservation, evaluating current Tribal environmental
programs to ensure that Tribal needs are being met and complying with Federal mandates, and continuing to increase the technical capabilities of the EPD staff and
department's GIS mapping system to track environmental protection activities and data bases structure.
